The Oregon Department of Forestry will tighten fire-prevention restrictions in 12 central Oregon counties, officials said Wednesday. The restrictions go into effect at 12:01 a.m. Friday.
“We are at a point where new wildfires are growing quickly and becoming more difficult and expensive to control,” district forester George Ponte said. “These restrictions are intended to eliminate human-caused fires as we will soon be busy enough with lightning-caused fires.”
